Wow! my drawing channel has reached 20,000 subscribers! Thanks everyone. I thought I would draw something special to celebrate, but couldn’t think what. I asked for ideas on twitter (follow me @shoorayner) and @jakehenley123 suggested I should “give all your subs 20 pounds. Lol :D” Well, much as I’d love to, I can’t afford to do that! but it gave me an idea…
I’m a great one for affirmations to cheer me up when things are aren’t going right, so I thought I would give you especial affirmation in the style of a joke banknote. the message reads, “I wish the bearer of this note to have a fabulous life and to become Really good at drawing through practice, practice, practice! with best wishes Shoo Rayner.”
Click this download file,
Print out the page and cut out the note. Keep it in your purse or wallet or put it up where you can see it so you can read it every time you feel like giving up on a drawing or just can’t get yourself started. read the note and tell yourself, “I’ll start and I’ll finish.”So much of getting better at drawing is just about getting in the habit of drawing something each day and completing it. don’t try to do a masterpiece in one sitting – just do something small that you can finish and be proud of
Good luck and thanks for following me so far. Now – on to the next 20,000 subs!
I’m starting a new theme alongside Euclid and his Geometry. ow to draw people will show you how to draw simple, cartoon like people in all sorts of poses and all sorts of clothses.
Let me know what you would like to see in this theme strand and I’ll see how it fits in with my plans. Like the Geometry strand, I’m planning on maiking a book and an ebook at the end of the series.
Yes, it’s episode three of my Euclid makes Geometry Fun series continuing on from triangles to show how the angles we learned about las week can turn a possible triangle into a circle! Sounds crazy? Well, watch the video and let Euclid show you how. Let me know what you think of this series – I’m planning on turning it into an ebook and paper book at the end.
According to my calendar it’s Canada Day on Sunday. last year I said I would draw the Canadian Maple Leaf Flag, so here it is. I’m told that drawing the Flag for Canada Day is the bane of every fourth-grader’s life – I hope this makes it a bit easier.
Happy Canada Day!
Some time ago I wrote a new Ginger Ninja story – just a short one, to introduce a new character. There was a bit of interest on maybe making Ginger a TV series. Nothing came of that , but I did have to come up with seven more story ideas and this little story introduced Candy – the local millionaire’s daughter, – who thinks that everything , including Ginger, can be bought.
I read the story again last week. It need a tweak or two and then I thought I would add some illustrations and make it a free eBook to my Newsletter subscribers. All you have to do is fill in the subscribe form on the right and follow the instructions.
Here’s a video about drawing the cover pictures
and here is another video of all the other drawings speeded up.
You’ll find it fits well in iBooks on an iPad. As it is a pdf, it should play on almost any PC, tablet or laptop quite a lot of phones too! Enjoy :)
I hope you are enjoying my Geometry series featuring a cartoon character of Euclid, the great, ancient greek mathematician. I’ve had many people ask me to show you how to draw Euclid, so her is a drawing lesson for you, featuring Copic Ciao marker pens.
Geometry lies at the root of all drawing, so it’s good to know a little about it. This is the first video in a series which will explain the basics of Euclid’s Elements of Geometry. Don’t be scared – It’s quite fun!
The drawings and script are the basis of what will be an ebook and and real world paper book. Watch the series and see how this new DrawStuffRealEasy project evolves. If you have thoughts about this video or the project please share in the comments box below.
Follow me as I make an iPad iBook over the next few weeks on my YouTube channel. I’m going to document all the various stages involved including research, reference, sketching, planning, illustrating, design on iBooks Author and integral video production.
Super Dad is one of my favourite stories. It’s a real Father’s Day/ Dad’s and Lads kind of book. Dad is just too busy getting on with things that he shuts his son out of his shallow life. When he realises what he is doing, he sees the light and has an amazing day with his son, rebuilding their relationship. It doesn’t take much, just a bit of time and effort.
Get the ipad version, learn to read and share this great story with Dad. Now available on iPad so you can follow along. It contains a quiz and video drawing lesson like this one too! What more could you want to give on Father’s Day? Another pair of comedy socks that won’t ever get worn?
