An exhausting week

This has been quite an exhausting week and a bit.

When I realised That I’d got into the final Eighty of the YouTube NextUp Europe Competition, Something told me to pul out all the stops. The eighty would be cut down to twenty by voting on the nextup channel. A quick check on twitter made me realise that the other contestants were taking things seriously.

I never once looked to see who my opposition were as I knew it would make me feel unworthy of winning. I looked at a few after the voting finished and immediately started to feel like I didn’t have a chance. So I stopped and I still think I’m in with a very good chance of being one of the eight final winners.

I pulled every trick and resource I could think of this week. It’s really made me think twice about how social networking works! what really amazed me was the fantastic support I receive from all my Youtube subscribers who showed a loyalty and willingness to help that I found quite humbling. Now I know why I’ve continued to answer their questions and comments while my friends and family think I’m crazy for doing it.

Voting is over now and I know what it must feel like to be a politician. I’ve had one or two nasty comments too, which I feel are undeserved and say more about the commenter than anything else. I’m tired and slightly deflated – the results don’t come out until August 2nd and I’m not sure what happens in between.

That’s been one of the hardest things, understanding the rules and explaining them to my viewers. How ever much you think you have it right you can always explain a little better. I’ve learned that I should stop and think and plan my videos a bit more, but then that’s why I want to win the competition. Four days at creator camp will get me up to speed with so much that will take my drawing channel up to an entirely new level.
