I first met her, looking very confused, at what was probably the worst ever organised “Literary Festival” on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We were both doing our thing in the same school where they seemed a bit unprepared for us. I think there was another author there too at the the same time. A case of overkill.
My best time with Julia was sitting on her broom, as she showed a group of authors what she did at school events. If only someone had taken a picture of us all in our costumes!
