• I thought you might like to see this campaign video for The Campaign for Drawing. A national arts education charity which champions the importance of drawing.

They say, “Drawing is a fundamental tool for thought, creativity, social and cultural engagement.”

It includes interviews with Andrew Marr – Broadcaster and Campaign Patron, Peter Ayres – Architect for Beep Studio, Briony Marshall – Sculptor & Former Biochemist, Massimo Acanfora – Creative Director Conran and Partners.

  • These are the first three drawing on the money tree, an idea suggested by Frddy Krepps, the first to be drawn and painted. As soon as he suggested a money tree I imagined a tree covered in notes with the faces of my loyal viewers. To prove a simple idea can make money, to YouTuber Justin Case, I’m only charging $10 for you to be immortalised on the money tree! That’s about £5.85 or €7.40 you can pay in any currency through paypal, who will convert the money to dollars. as I post this there are on 2 notes left, so if you want to be immortalised, you’d better be quick.

In this video I show How I turn Freddy Krepps into a President, Terry Lev into a Queen and Young Simon into a Pirate. There’s more to come so watch out!

  • wild thingWhere the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak, was a hugely influential book for me.

When I first encountered it in the college library in the early 1980s I was bowled over.

In this book, I could see how all my various talents might come together. That was the day I realised there was a person behind the illustrations in a book and the day I started working towards being a children’s book illustrator.

Where the Wild Things Are is a perfectly crafted piece of work. I’ve made this video to show you how brilliantly it is written and composed.

In many ways I’ve been trying to emulate this book over the years. I’ve written one or two cringingly bad homages to it shared with the world.

Werewolf-Poster24Although when My Series, Monster Boy came out, it was pointed out to me that The werewolf in WereWolf Wail looks like Max all grown up. That was purely subconscious!
