• Drew from Florida emailed me yesterday, worried about being blocked creatively. He says he’s practicing drawing circles and things like that and hopes that something will happen soon. I think maybe he’s trying too hard. When the ideas dry up it’s easy to panic and try to force out new ideas, but it doesn’t work like that. You need to feed the brain and the creative furnace with new ideas and sights and experiences. Then, just relax. Brilliant ideas will suddenly hit you when you least expect them to and you will find yourself on a new and exciting path.

I thought I’d maybe try and introduce a wednesday advice/show thing again, but not as complicated as before. I really did run out of time doing the previous shows! If you’d like to ask me advice on drawing or art or anything creative, please do. Put them in the comments box below!

  • I came second at the Wigtown’s Got Talent competition on Saturday! (I hadn’t really intended to – I was merely padding out the bill!) The winners were the wonderful MacFarlane sisters, who were rightly described as Wigtown mermaids with angel’s voices. (That gives me an idea for a book!)

Any way for your amusement, here’s a video of my performance that was taken by Peter Bestel, proud dad of last year’s winner, Zoe Bestel. I made a video of her fabulous, winning song, 35 missed messages, last year which you can see here.

  • I’m very tired after a long weekend entertaining children and adults at the Wigtown Book Festival http://www.wigtownbookfestival.com/ so this is a quick video for the junkies who won’t cope if I don’t do one!
