• Coleford, where I live, has hit the national headlines in the past for being the earliest Christmas decorations in the country. Well, they have started going up this week.

It’s no real surprise. They are put up on weekends by volunteers over the weeks before Christmas. It takes a while to sort it all out.

When Santa arrives and turns them on, it is worth the wait. Coleford’s lights are quite magnificent, for such a little town, and we are all quite proud of them.

I spotted the one on the picture, all ready to be connected up, above the entrance to the Rose Nursery, next to my opticians, where I ordered some incredibly expensive glasses this afternoon – they’d better be good!

  • During my recent visit to Guernsey, I discovered that you could get the key to the Victoria Tower and go up it all by yourself. What fun. Guernsey seems less concerned with health and safety. You just go up at your own risk. Such a healthy attitude.

Here’s a little video I made about going up to the top and looking at the views.
