• Phew! I’m shattered! I found I had a day and half free in my schedule as I’d not been sent artwork layouts for the weekend, so I’ve really gone for the new website change over in a big way. This blog will now become more of a drawing blog and my homepage, www.shoorayner.com, will become my main blog, so I suppose I’ll have to change my feed to Facebook etc.

I reckon that a blog is the way to go for a home page. I’ve hummed and ha-ed about it for years, but I’ve finally made the decision. I’ve been developing it on a local server for weeks. Transferring to a web server is a bit of a nightmare, I’ve been going through the database hand-coding bits that got missed and I think it’s all working now.

Have a look and why not sign up for my newsletter? You’ll be in the monthly draw to win a signed copy of one of my books. While you’re at it, why not subscribe to my youtube drawing school for another chance?

    Feedback welcomed!

  • Woohoo again! I’ve just finished the first draft of the last book of the Axel Storm series. It’s a bit weird writing it in between doing the artwork for books three and four.

Actually, my original schedule had me writing it in January, but these things tend to slip. We’ve got the production schedule working okay now – a bit tight, but doable.

Shark Island draws quite a lot on my experiences in Guam, where I went visiting schools some eighteen months ago. I went snorkeling on the reef there and had a fantastic time. Axel has just found treasure under the seabed in between nearly getting eaten by sharks and being swept away in the undertow!

I just found the picture of me on the Isle of Wight when I was about six. I must have been thinking about this story since then. It takes me a long time to think about things!
