I had a wonderful day of drawing and storytelling yesterday at the Samworth Enterprise Academy – Leicester – a huge, modern school catering for nursery up to year 11. The lasting impression I have is of the staff toilets, (they are co-educational, if you get what I mean! Very continental and surprising. I’m told you get used to it.) The Academy has a business and enterprise focus and some of the year two children had set up a car wash business in their £10 investment competition. I didn’t find out what the others were doing, but I think it’s great idea to teach children how money works and that you can make money yourself and not need to rely on others to provide a job.
I took this picture if a cat and dog drawing done by Kaidi-Leigh in the reception class. She put so much concentration into it. I love the way she has surrounded the character in a sort of force field. I’ve see all sorts of version of these drawings now, but this one is very different with a very personal vision. I’m sure she will go far!
Thanks for a great day everyone and keep up the great drawings!
