It’s not a competition, so there are no rules, but you CAN win a prize!

I have started doing a new theme each month. This month is Seaside Holiday or Vacation. I’ll be doing seaside themed videos all month – checkout the Video Playlist to see what’s available.

What I’d like you to do is watch my videos and draw something based on or inspired by the videos and the theme. I want you to expand from just a drawing to think about posters or illustrations funny cartoons – be creative – whatever gets you going.

Then upload a scan or photograph of your drawing to the Your Shoo Rayner Drawings, Google+ community page where we can all see it and enjoy your work. I am planning to do videos featuring your artwork and have an idea that there could also be an annual book of the best examples from each month. I may have something for runners-up too.

The prize is terrific – An exclusive Shoo Rayner sketchbook, a copy of my book – Everyone Can Draw – a rOtring tikky graphic pen, a Derwent 6B graphic pencil and art eraser and, thanks to Winsor and Newton for supplying it, a fabulous Cotman Sketcher’s Watercolor paint box set.

The prize will go to the piece of work that I like the best. It’s that simple. It might be that it makes me laugh or cry or smile or go “Wow!” or anything. I’ll know if you just drag stuff out of the bottom drawer!

You have all month, so don’t feel rushed and you can be inspired to post as many times as you like. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your work.
