• I was asked how to draw a 3d landscape from a 2d garden plan. So many people have asked me about landscapes in the backgrounds of drawing that I thought it was about time a made a video about it.

I am very spatially aware, so most of this comes to me without thinking. I can look at a floor plan and do a sketch for you, but not everyone can.

The way to do it is by making a floor plan and then transposing it to a 3d perspective plan and work it out from there.

  • I found this post hadn’t been published so here it is.

I was at a school last week and the children there were very keen to know about dragons and why I was inspired to write my dragon books. I told them about a magical place, not far from where I live, that I call the Dragon Quarry. Have a look and see what you think. Its a place I love to go and unwind.

  • I had to take my car to the county town of Hereford, for a service. That meant I had the whole morning to spend wandering around sketching. What a great idea. First I went to the museum, which has quite a lot on display about the agricultural heritage of the county,

The Hereford is famous for cider and beef – the Hereford beef cattle breed being famous around the world. I found references to hereford Bulls all over the place – not so much the cider though – perhaps I wasn’t looking hard enough.

Here are the sketches I made in a morning off from drawing for work – I must be a glutton for punishment!
