• After my drawing of Psy doing the Gangnam Style dance last week, I had a request from Youtuber @143KNB to draw a skeleton dancing in a Gangnam Style!

This is not such a silly idea as it might seem. Skeletons are tall and thin while videos are wide. I’ve been thinking of doing a skeleton for quite some time, but I was trying to think of a way to make the skeleton a bit lively – make him dance! What a briliant idea!

So this will give you a rough idea of how to draw a skeleton whirling and imaginary lasso while riding an imaginary horse! If you wan really detailed anatomical advice, I’d have a look at the wonderful Dorling Kindersley book on anatomy http://bit.ly/AnatomyForTheArtist-UK

  • Are you dyslexic? If you are you are really lucky – you are one o f the creative people that make this world worth living in. You’ll find all those “normal” people don’t understand you and you probably don’t understand them – they want everything so neat and tidy and sorted out into nice little boxes that can be ticked.

Because dyslexics have to work harder to fit in, they tend to be entrepreneurs and leaders and creatives – the people who make it all worthwhile.

So, please don’t think of it as a disease or something you suffer from. You are blessed to be among the people who make this world worth living in. Enjoy the brilliant way your brain has been wired up. 🙂 Here’s a video with some of my thoughts about dyslexia

    and here is another!

  • Many people have asked me to show how to cross hatch. It’s a skill you have to work at an be prepared t make lots of mistakes!

Basically it is using pen and ink to render tonal values. one layer of lines will give a an effect of grey, but when you cross hatch over the first set of lines with a second set, drawn at an angle to the first you make the effect of darkening the shade of grey in the area.

when you keep crossing at different angles the are becomes darker and darker until it is almost completely filled in.
