• On my way to London, to visit the Forest School in Snaresbrook tomorrow, I nodded off to sleep while leaving Swindon. I woke as we pulled into the next station.
All I could see on the platform was a sign saying Parkway. Being half befuddled with sleep I assumed it meant Bristol Parkway, which would have me going in the wrong direction!

I asked the guy behind me where we werejust as I noticed the rest of the sign – Didcot Parkway – phew!

  • I made the wrong choice going via the M4 this morning, I should have gone over the mountains. It takes a little longer, but there isn’t so much traffic and the Heads of the Valleys Road has been so juch improved over the last couple of years.

I had a great day at Tylorstown Primary when I got there.

I had an interesting time with years 5 and 6. They had been talking about passing on stories. I told them about Viking Vik, which is all about passing on the stories I was told as a child.

We made a new story for Viking Vik about fishing which incorporated another story my mother used to tell me about how she would catch and cook one shrimp at a time when she was a child in Norway. She used a toy saucepan and a candle to cook with. Maybe I could use it one day!

Thanks for a great day to everyone.

  • There are amazing views up high in the mountains above Treorchy as you come down the endless hill from the Heads of the Valleys road. The road is one long village leading into another.

Pentre Primary is a vast Victorian school with a small roll. We had a lot of fun today – particularly KS1 who helped me come up with a bizarre idea about the Bin Man who comes to collect naughty children! I feel there might be a good idea in there!

Thanks for a great day – hope it doesn’t snow again!
