All Walker wants is a dog, but his mother is allergic. So he decides to set up his own business walking everyone else’s dogs. This works better than he could have imagined when he finds he can talk to dogs and understand what they say to him! The dogs tell him of a terrible puppy farm hidden in the woods by Arlington Wherewithall, the richest, most famous man in the area. Nobody will listen to him, so it is down to Walker and the dogs to stop the farm and save the puppies.

What? Walker’s eyes popped wide open. “You mean you can get paid for walking dogs? Now I know what I want to do when I grow up. When can I leave school?”

Lots of How to Draw Dogs videos!

Did my editor like my artwork?

Did my editor like the artwork I finished for Walker – the boy who can talk to dogs?

She did, but she didn’t like the character in the image on the left. It reminded her of someone when she was young who she thought was a werewolf.

My immediate reaction was to think, “Oh yes! There the plot for book 4 in the series!”

A little though and I realised that wasn’t going to happen, so I made Mr Bonus, the Latvian village shop keeper and Walkers  business inspiration, look a little softer around the eyebrows. I think it make him look a bit like Lemmy from Motorhead!

Click the picture at the top to watch how I go about revising a piece of artwork.

I’ve since changed a few other illustrations as I noticed inconsistencies with the text as I went through the final edit with illustrations in place. Of course I should have noticed before I did the artwork!

Walker is out on the 14th of March and you can preorder the book at Amazon with the link below, so you can be the first to read it!

New Book Cover Revealed – Walker – the boy who can talk to dogs

Today is the official reveal of my new book, Walker – the boy who can talk to dogs.

I’ve just finished the artwork and I’m so looking forward to introducing this book to children – I hope to have early copies for World Book Day. I’m booked for World Book Day week, but still have room the weeks either side.

Walker has always wanted a dog, but his mums hyper-allergic to dogs, so he can’t have one. Something he see’s on a visit to his aunt, gives him and idea, and soon he and Stella are bonding, throwing and catching sticks in Foxley Fields. Walker has no idea what is about to happen or the incredible adventure that is about to unfold.

You can pre-order at Amazon – pay no attention to what they say… publication day is 14th March. Find out a whole lot more at @ FireflyPress
